It is important to notify us of your claim at the very earliest opportunity, as any delay could affect the acceptance of your claim or lead to greater loss or damage. The sooner you tell us about your claim, the sooner we can assist.

Not all insurers require you to complete a claim form but if they do, we will send one through to you for completion. 

 

When no form required, we will obtain details about the incident including brief description, date, time, place and if you’ve obtained a quote, replaced windscreen, car driveable, items repairable or total loss.

We suggest that you take photos at the scene of an accident including the other vehicle, registration plate, other drivers’ licence, damaged goods, items, or business premises. Do not dispose of contents or stock without first taking photos to show proof of loss or damage.

You will need to return the completed claim form, bank account details, ABN, ITC claimed, photo’s, proof of ownership of stolen or lost items, inventory of damaged items, third party details, quotes to repair car or property or replace goods or items.

Once you return the documents, photos and proof we will submit them to the insurer to assess and accept the claim.

Depending on the incident sometimes the insurer will appoint an assessor, builder or other specialist to advise them on the claim and provide a report.

A majority of the insurer’s use O’Brien to replace windscreens, call to check or if no O’Brien nearby you can use glazier who services your area. Should you need to replace urgently you will need to pay repairer, submit claim and if you are entitled to a free windscreen you will reimbursed or if a excess applies you will be paid net of excess and GST if applicable.

Our office will stay in touch with the insurer for updates and settlement and if necessary as your advocate we will assist you to reach an acceptable outcome with your insurer. 

Other information

Assessors may need to have access to your property to assess the damage and write up a report to give to the insurer. 

If your property is at risk of further damage or not accessible you can go ahead and arrange glazier, handyman or builder to come to site and make it safe and ensure no further damage can occur and the area is safe.
